ECOMP’s Document Upload feature lets you send supporting records to an existing FECA case after OWCP assigns a case number. Use the official Department of Labor portal, verify the case details, submit the relevant document, and retain the confirmation. Uploading evidence is separate from filing a new claim or requesting reimbursement. Source: ECOMP filing guidance (https://www.ecomp.dol.gov/content/help/HowToFile.html).
What can you send to an OWCP case?
DOL identifies ECOMP as a route for case correspondence, written inquiries, responses to OWCP letters and supporting documentation. Its new-case guidance also says a physician may submit medical reports to the case file. Use the instructions for the document and FECA case you are handling. What should you have ready?
ECOMP’s filing guidance lists the claimant’s last name, case number, date of birth and date of injury for the document-upload feature. It can be used for existing cases even if the original claim was not filed through ECOMP. Enter identifying information only into the official system; this article does not ask you to share it with NuThera. A practical document-upload checklist
- Open the official ECOMP website at https://www.ecomp.dol.gov/ and choose its document-upload route for an existing case.
- Confirm the case details before selecting a file.
- Review the document yourself: correct person, relevant visit or subject, complete pages, readable text and any required signature.
- Follow the file-format, size and document-category instructions displayed by the live portal. Do not assume another DOL system uses the same limits.
- Complete the submission and retain the confirmation or tracking information displayed.
- Keep a copy of the exact file you sent and the submission date with your claim records.
The review and recordkeeping steps above are practical organizational suggestions. They do not replace the portal’s current instructions, an OWCP notice, or the requirements for a particular form.
Does an upload mean OWCP approved the document?
No. Sending a document records a submission; it does not establish claim acceptance, treatment authorization or payment approval. DOL provides status tracking for uploaded correspondence. Check the recorded status and any subsequent OWCP response rather than treating a successful upload as a favorable decision. Do medical bills and reimbursement forms go here?
Do not use the general ECOMP case-document upload as a substitute for submitting a medical bill or an OWCP-915 or OWCP-957 reimbursement request through its designated route. DOL’s contact page specifically warns that uploading those reimbursement forms to ECOMP will not process them for reimbursement. Follow the current form and medical-bill-processing instructions. What if the upload does not complete?
Read the error message and compare the file with the portal’s displayed requirements. Keep the original record intact. If the submission status is unclear, use official ECOMP help or the servicing OWCP office’s contact instructions. A failed upload should not be recorded in your own files as a completed submission.

Common questions.
Can I upload records if my claim was not filed through ECOMP?
Yes. ECOMP’s filing guidance says its document-upload feature can be used for an existing FECA case once a case number has been assigned, including cases not initiated through ECOMP.
Can my physician submit medical reports?
Yes. DOL’s New Case Overview identifies ECOMP as a way for a physician to submit medical reports to the case file.
What file size and format should I use?
Follow the requirements displayed in the live ECOMP document-upload workflow. Limits from a billing portal or another DOL filing system should not be assumed to apply.
Can I upload OWCP-915 or OWCP-957 here for reimbursement?
Do not use general case-document upload for those reimbursement requests. DOL warns that uploading them to ECOMP will not process them for reimbursement; use the designated current submission instructions.
