Personal Injury Care

Medical evaluation,
then structured
physical therapy.

After an auto accident, slip-and-fall, or injury event, the first step matters. At NuThera you're seen by a physician or physician associate before any treatment begins — then our PT team takes over with a plan built for recovery and defensible documentation.

What makes it different
Physician or PA evaluation on your very first visit.
Step one

Start with a medical evaluation.

Personal injury cases live or die on the strength of the initial medical record. That's why we insist the first visit happen with an MD or PA — not a technician, not an intake coordinator, not a non-clinician assistant.

Focused history and exam

Mechanism of injury, timeline of symptoms, past medical history, medications, prior treatment — captured in the detail a claim reviewer will look for.

Imaging when indicated

X-ray, MRI, or CT ordered when the exam suggests more than soft-tissue injury. We coordinate with imaging partners so you aren't chasing appointments.

Working diagnosis on day one

A clear clinical impression and documented treatment plan before you leave — not a referral to 'come back next week' or 'see a specialist and then start over.'

Specialty referral if needed

Concussion, orthopedic injury, peripheral nerve involvement, or pain-management needs — we coordinate directly with the right specialist.

Step two — and the core of recovery

Our physical therapy program.

Hands-on, plan-driven, and led by a licensed physical therapist with 30+ years of clinical experience. PT is where most of your recovery actually happens — and where we spend the most time with you.

Hands-on manual therapy

Skilled soft-tissue work, joint mobilization, and guided movement therapy — performed by a licensed PT, not delegated to a tech.

Progression-based programming

Structured exercise progressions tied to measurable milestones — range of motion, strength, pain reduction, functional tasks.

Documented measurable progress

Objective measurements on every visit. Progress notes that read clearly to attorneys, claims reviewers, and referring physicians.

Advanced modalities
HIFEM muscle stimulation

When post-accident deconditioning or pain-inhibited muscle activation limits traditional PT progress, we integrate high-intensity electromagnetic muscle stimulation for neuromuscular re-education and functional core recovery.

How it works

Your path from injury to return to function.

01

Medical evaluation

Your first visit is with a licensed physician (MD) or physician associate (PA-C). We take a full history, perform a focused exam, order imaging when clinically indicated, and establish a clear working diagnosis.

02

Treatment plan

Based on the evaluation, we build a written plan — clinical goals, PT frequency, expected duration, and any referrals needed (orthopedics, neurology, pain management). You leave knowing exactly what care will look like.

03

Physical therapy

Hands-on PT led by a licensed physical therapist. Manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and progression-based programming. Not a generic exercise circuit — a structured rehab plan tied to your specific injury.

04

Recovery and return to function

Measurable progress checkpoints, adjustments to the plan as you heal, and a clear path to discharge — whether that's full return to work, continued maintenance therapy, or referral for next-level care.

Conditions

Injuries we commonly treat.

If your injury isn't listed, call us — this isn't exhaustive. Any injury that benefits from combined medical and PT care fits our model.

  • Whiplash and cervical strain
  • Lumbar and thoracic back injuries
  • Shoulder, rotator cuff, and upper extremity injuries
  • Knee, hip, and lower extremity injuries
  • Concussion and post-concussion syndrome
  • Soft tissue injuries and sprains
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation
  • Chronic pain from prior injury events
Why NuThera

Medical-first care. Documentation that holds up.

MD / PA evaluation first

Every personal injury patient is evaluated by a licensed physician or physician associate on the very first visit — setting a clear clinical foundation for your recovery plan.

Integrated physical therapy

PT under the same roof, led by the same clinical team. No referrals to an unrelated clinic that won't share notes.

Attorney and claims coordination

We send records directly to your attorney's office on request. Causation statements, progress notes, and functional capacity documentation written for claim review.

Common questions

Before your first visit.

Do I need a referral or attorney to be seen?

No. You can self-refer. If you're working with an attorney, we coordinate documentation directly with their office. If you aren't, we can recommend attorneys experienced in PI cases — there's no obligation.

What's NuThera's approach to personal injury care?

Personal injury care at NuThera starts with a licensed physician or physician associate performing the initial medical evaluation. That matters clinically — many PI injuries benefit from imaging, medication management, or specialty referral before physical therapy begins — and it matters for your claim. A clear medical record from an MD or PA provides strong clinical documentation throughout recovery.

Will my PT be done by a licensed physical therapist?

Yes. Our PT team is led by Connie Pirkle, PT — a licensed physical therapist with 30+ years of experience. PT is hands-on and plan-driven, not a generic exercise circuit.

Do you work on a letter of protection (LOP)?

For attorney-represented patients in certain case types, yes. Call (725) 726-7914 to discuss your specific case and billing options before your first visit.
